En el debate presidencial ARCHI realizado el miércoles 3 de diciembre , José Antonio Kast afirmó lo siguiente al referirse a la efectividad del modelo de seguridad implementado en El Salvador bajo el gobierno de Nayib Bukele:
¿Usted sabe hoy día cuál es la tasa de homicidios en El Salvador, incluidos los temas de femicidios y temas de disputas familiares? Cero, casi cero.

Dado que el candidato del Partido Republicano menciona homicidios en general e incluye explícitamente femicidios y disputas familiares, corresponde verificar si es cierto que la tasa —o los casos— son efectivamente “cero o casi cero”. Combinando dos elementos verificables: (a) nivel de homicidios total y (b) nivel de feminicidios.
A continuación verificamos sobre todo el punto central: ¿hay “cero” homicidios? y, de paso, la tendencia de femicidios.
Hace unos meses el presidente salvadoreño Nayib Bukele, publicó en su cuenta de X que el país habría alcanzado “1.000 días sin homicidios”. Tras revisar fuentes oficiales y observatorios independientes muestran que, aunque la violencia ha disminuido, continúan registrándose homicidios y múltiples feminicidios en 2024 y 2025.
¿Qué ocurre con los homicidios en general?
Hoy hay una fuerte contradicción entre lo afirmado por el presidente Bukele y lo que las fuentes oficiales han publicado.
La Policía Nacional Civil (PNC) reporta –diariamente en su cuenta de X– días con o sin homicidios. En la siguiente galería de fotos se reportan varios días donde han sucedido homicidios a lo largo del año.
Por otro lado, la Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) cuenta con una sección en su página web de estadísticas anuales respecto a homicidios intencionales.
Durante el año 2023 se contabilizaron 154 homicidios, en el año 2024 disminuyó a 114, mientras que en el presente año –y actualizada hasta julio– se habían cometido 47 homicidios intencionales.
Medios de comunicación nacionales e internacionales también han documentado disparidades entre lo expuesto por el presidente y diversas fuentes de información, tal como La Prensa Gráfica, Swissinfo, El Diario Hoy.
Teniendo esto en consideración, no es posible afirmar que El Salvador lleva casi tres años sin homicidios. Las cifras de fuentes oficiales de El Salvador presentan reducciones importantes que en años previos, pero no llegan a cero.
Femicidios: los datos desmienten la afirmación “cero, casi cero”
Las cifras muestran que sí existieron femicidios en 2023, 2024 y 2025. La fuente más sólida y actualizada es la Organización de Mujeres Salvadoreñas por la Paz (ORMUSA) quienes realizan el informe «Violencia feminicida en El Salvador» y está siendo actualizado constantemente.
En el presente informe se reveló que entre el 1 de enero y el 20 de noviembre, al menos 24 mujeres fueron víctimas de feminicidio, muertes violentas y suicidio feminicida.
Veredicto
La frase del candidato no coincide con la evidencia disponible. No existe evidencia —ni oficial ni independiente— de que El Salvador tenga “tasa cero” de homicidios o femicidios en 2024–2025; sí hubo una reducción sostenida respecto a años anteriores, pero continúan ocurriendo homicidios y feminicidios en 2023–2025.
A partir de lo anterior, desde el Observatorio de Datos calificamos como FALSO el dato presentado por el candidato José Antonio Kast.
Usamos el calificativo «FALSO» cuando el contenido discursivo es mentira.
